| APS Kendra is a private local, community-oriented, independent institution conceived by a group of qualified and experienced nurses in order to assist in reducing maternal and neonatal mortality and morbidity in the country with a mission to provide quality cost-effective round the clock “women-friendly” basic maternal and child health services including reproductive health. It aims to be a model institution in promoting independent free-standing natural birthing centres in the country, offering site to train and support skilled, compassionate skill birth attendants including nursing students.
APS Kendra is guided by the principles of quality cost-effective service, equitable access, social justice, community participation, private-public partnership, empowerment, sustainable community development and human rights. Through its trained nursing staff, it provides cost-effective, compassionate and quality maternal and child health care services that promotes and supports mother and baby to be healthy: physically, mentally and socially. The Kendra admires that since health care services have direct impact on individual it should not be discriminate based on the individual and family’s economic status. The Kendra believes in the fact that quality health services need not always be an expensive commodity limited only to those who are rich enough to afford.
