| Volunteering with APS Kendra |
Volunteering is a great way to meet new people, learn new skills, add variety to your work experience and contribute to the local community, society and the nation.
While you are at leisure, you can complement your free time by joining volunteer programs at the APS Kendra.

| Volunteering Opportunities |
| As a part of its activities, APS Kendra opens up opportunities for professional women and men to serve as APS Kendra volunteers and contribute to the society in upbringing the health status of a woman and her baby before, during and after childbirth. The APS Kendra recruits and offers volunteer opportunities mainly to nursing profession. However, it can also recruit volunteer from other disciplines such as management, finance, marketing, website designing and other health professionals depending on the needs of the APS Kendra but such type of volunteer opportunities are very limited in number. Please note that an applicant who applied for volunteer does not guarantee an APS Kendra Volunteer assignment. |
| Basic requirements |
To become an APS Kendra volunteer one should fulfill the following minimum requirements:
- A university degree or higher technical diplomas (i.e. Nursing, Management/Finance/Marketing/Website designing and other health professionals);
- Wants to gain relevant working experience and at the same time contribute to the society;
- At least age 18 (no maximum age limit);
- Strong commitment to values and principles of volunteerism;
- Ability to work in team and respect team spirit;
- Ability to adjust in stressful conditions;
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills;
- Prior volunteering and/or working experience in relevant field are an asset.
The short-listed applicants are required to attend an interview and at the time of interview, she/he will be required to bring two letters of recommendation, originals of their diplomas and other certificates related to their education, training and work experience. Please note that the phone calls and influences from other people on behalf of the applicant will not be entertained. It can jeopardize the selection of the candidate.

Benefits are, in principle, not measured in monetary terms determined by the labour market. Foremost is the personal and professional satisfaction the assignment should bring to you, as an APS Kendra volunteer.
In return for your service, you will receive the following benefits:
Volunteer Allowance (VA) intended to cover basic minimum transportation expenses to travel by public transportation to and from the APS Kendra within the Kathmandu Valley including minimum refreshment cost per day, which is paid each month;
Weekly off, Sick Leave, Annual leave; and
Experience Letter

| Conditions of service |
Duration of Assignment
APS Kendra volunteer assignments usually last between 3 to 12 months. However, it can be extended up to 24 months.
Type of Assignment APS Kendra assigns two types of volunteers: Full-time and Part-time volunteer. Full-time volunteer has to work 40 hours in a week and part-time volunteer has to work 20 hours in a week.
Volunteer Allowance
APS Kendra provides allowance to the APS Kendra Volunteer. The allowance is intended to cover basic minimum transportation cost to travel by public transportation within the Kathmandu valley to and from the APS Kendra including minimum refreshment cost per day, and should not be considered as a salary. It is paid each month and not negotiable.
Leave
Depending on the type of volunteer assignment, the APS Kendra Volunteer is entitled to weekly off at the rate of one-day in a week and sick leave at a rate of one working day a month that she will be required to take during the assignment period. No payment in lieu of leave will be made. |
